After the final battle, Detective Scalus is impressed of Tromeo and Juliet's teamwork of clearing his name and therefore satisfied to see the end of Cappy's criminal empire, pardoning Tromeo of murder while ordering for the rest of Cappy's goons, including Rosie, Peter, Ness, and Georgie, to be put in jail as his accomplices. Tromeo staggers around the party in disillusion until he locks eyes with those of Juliet. Despite this, they run off and have children, and are shown living quite happily afterward. Tromeo, enraged by his friend's death, pursues Tyrone and slays him (through a series of car crashes which dismember him) and goes into hiding from the police. The film is a loose adaptation of the play, as it includes the extreme amounts sexuality and violence characteristic of Troma, as well as a revised ending. The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste.
After the success of Tromeo, Troma had plans to develop a spiritual sequel entitled Schlock and Schlockability (a play on Sense and Sensibility), in which Jane Austen is reincarnated as a well-endowed female who takes revenge on all of the Hollywood movie producers who have bastardized her novels. Tromeo, a filmmaker, falls in love with Juliet, the daughter of a former partner who tried to steal his business from him.
